HÄT 8072 Russian Line Infantry 1805.
Information concerning flags.

The Uniform of the soldiers in this set was the regulation dress for 1805/06.

Imperial Russian Army Flags 1805-1806.

When Russia entered into the Napoleonic wars conflict, the Russian Army flew a consideral number of different flag designs, subtypes and variants of these. For example there were different flag designs for line and guard infantry, then some regiments got special flags as a rewards for good conduct in battle etc. When new regulation patterns were introduced, Regiments often continued to carry their older flags when these were in good condition. A great number of units still carried the old 1797 pattern flags in 1813.
For a number of regiments the situation which flags actually have been carried at a certain date i.e. battle of the napoleonic wars period is totally unknown.
Since 1802 each regiment should carry
1 "white" flag (in the 1st Batn.) and 5 "coloured" flags, which means 2 flags per bataillon.
There were different design and colour schemes used by the various regiments. Within each regiment, one design scheme was used for all flags. For the so called "white" flag, white was the predominant colour of the flag. For the "coloured" flags respectively the characteristic colours of the individual flag design scheme were predominant.

Flagstaves were about 10 feet long with a gilt spearpoint tip and painted in white, black, yellow or brown according to regimental distinctions.

The flag was carried by a NCO. The HAT 8072 figures big shako bush was the characteristic sign of grenadiers. So the flags used with this figures should be the flags for grenadier regiments or the bush be cut of to convert the man to a soldier of a musketeer regiment. As a special sign of rank NCO´s carried a cane, fixed at one of the upper breast buttons, collar and cuffs were laced in gold, the shako bush had a distictive white and red tip, the shako´s upper edge laced in gold (Thanks for research help to Hans-Karl Weiss!).
