HÄT 8036 Napoleonic British Light Infantry.

Information concerning flags.

British Infantry carried 2 flags: 1 "king´s colour" which was the Union Jack with a regimental badge in the center, and the "regimental colour" which in most cases displayed a regimental or general badge on a cloth the same colour as the regiments collar, cuffs and turnbacks.

Light Infantry usually did not carry their flags in battle, as its typical fighting tactics was in smaller groups or spread out over a wider terrain.

Flag-poles were blackened and topped by a gilded spearhead. Cords and tassels were mixed gold and red.

Flagbearers were ensigns - the youngest officers, the flags were guarded by 2 segeants with their pikes.
