Information
concerning flags. British cavalry regiments carried 1 flag (standard) per squadron. In some regiments there was a "King´s standard" for the 1st squadron and "regimental guidons" for the others. The standard was carried by a sergeant, covered by a corporal (Wellington´s Light Cavalry, Bryan Fosten, Osprey Men at Arms Nr. 126). When the squadron was deployed in two ranks, the standard´s position was in the middle of the front rank . Flag-staves seemed to have
been natural wood colour
and topped by a gilded
spearhead. Cords and tassels were mixed gold and red. More detailed informations
